The inky color has purple highlights.
Aromatically it explodes with blackcurrants, blackberries, figs, prunes, gingerbread, sandalwood, mint, cedar, leather, and truffle?-
The attack shows a flamboyantly gothic architecture: opulent fruit, an elegant tannic structure, ideal acidity, finishing with a long-lasting flavor and perfect control?- This combination contributes to its power and elegance. Medium color, slightly darker than the 1996. We get dark and dried fruits in the nose with additional notes of gingerbread, sandalwood, cedar, mint, leather, and truffle. Upon entry we are struck by opulent fruit, soft tannins, and ideal acidity. The finish is very long and consistent, combining power and elegance. The outstanding showing of the 1995 came as a modest surprise as we are generally not big fans of the vintage.

Big and powerful, with loads of fruit and chewy tannins. Still just a baby. Full-bodied, with lots of structure and a long, long finish. Give it time.–’95/’96 Bordeaux retrospective. Best after 2010.
