The expectations for merlot vary widely, especially with warmer-grown grapes, where plummy fruit is the result. I prefer wines such as this, with black olive savoury nuances to the underlying red fruits providing tension and length to a wine of medium-bodied weight, French oak evident, but not dominant. 92 points
