Tasting Notes
Colour : Magenta with a deep purple core.
Nose : An archetypal refined Barossa Shiraz nose with
liquorice, blackberry and plum aromas over a tar
underlay. With closer inspection, higher floral
notes arise meshed with lemony, scented oak.
Palate : Perfectly balanced with dark berry fruits framed
by spicy French Oak. Impressive layers of flavour
make up the generous mid palate. Texturally
enticing, with beguiling, silky fine-grained
tannins that appear talc-like, and powdery, even
alongside St Henri.

The 2001 Shiraz RWT reveals an attractive dense ruby/purple-tinged color
as well as an earthy, plum, cherry, and peppery-scented bouquet, medium
to full body, and slightly intrusive acidity. The fruit and weight are
such that the acidity is only a minor annoyance as opposed to dominating
the wine?ˉs character and compressing its texture. While acceptable, it
could have been a lot better.

Some excellent winemaking and very smart oak can’t hide the pruney,
stressed nature of the fruit used for this wine. Its spicy cinnamon
spicecake aromas and sweet, forward palate of currants, plums and red
berries are deeply flavoured and tightly supported by new cedary oak,
but the finish lacks length and brightness. 2009-2013+.

Powerful blackberry fruit aromas; similarly powerful and concentrated dark fruit palate; oak and tannin extract in balance.

Ripe and open-textured, rife with cherry, currant and blueberry jam
flavors, subtlety shaded with spicy, slightly smoky overtones that
linger along with the fruit on a very persistent finish. A hint of
melted wax that is intriguing as well. Best from 2005 through 2015.
8,000 cases made.
