Tasting Notes
Inspired by the village of La Bratta in Northern Italy where my mother was born, and where my grandfather was a winemaker, the 2007 La Bratta is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec from the great 2007 vintage in Margaret River. It is perfumed, richly flavoured, savoury, with a succulence and persistence of flavour that is a treat. We are thrilled with this first release.

La Bratta is the village in Italy where Gary Gosatti’s mother was born, and grandfather made wine. The Merlot/Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon that went to make this wine come from the original Arlewood Vineyard, and has produced a wine of considerable stature, its black and redcurrant fruit supported by Italianate tannins and French oak; 250 cases made.

A blend of Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes sourced from the original Arlewood block in Wilyabrup, the 2007 La Bratta was matured 22 months in new and used French oak. It has a very deep garnet-black color and intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry pie, coffee, dried mulberry, roasted Mediterranean herbs, bacon and cumin seeds. Crisp, full bodied and with a medium to high level of fine tannins, this wine has a long layered finish. Beginning to drink now, it should cellar until 2018+
