Tasting Notes
The estate’s 2006 Long Now (Nebbiolo, Barbera) is a massive, powerful wine. With some time in the glass its voluptuous dark fruit gradually comes forward, enhanced by overtones of minerals, spices, toasted oak and menthol. This remains a very reticent, brooding wine in need of several years of bottle age, yet it is very promising. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021.
I was extremely impressed with these new releases from proprietor Giorgio Pelissero. Readers may also want to take a look at Issue 178 for notes on the estate’s value-priced wines.

Dark and brooding, featuring saturated black currant, wild herb and mineral aromas and flavors, just hinting at animal. This is backward and tightly structured with tannins, yet also concentrated and long, with sweetness prevailing in the end. Needs time. Nebbiolo and Barbera. Best from 2015 through 2040.
