Tasting Notes

COLOUR

Very pale straw with lime green hues.

NOSE

Brazen wild ferment characters of struck match and gun flint, with white peach and sweet almond nougat also justifiably seeking attention. Cashew / nutty oak weaves through the fruit with elements of caraway seed and white stonefruit complexing the offer.

PALATE

An assortment of hybrid secondary characters suggest a modicum of winemaker influence here. Although replete with a convincing creamy mid palate, it’s the grip, ‘crunchiness’ and gun flint that extolls ’07A’s ‘wild side’, with stonefruits and fine, lingering acidity on the finish. – by Offical Webiste

The 2007 Reserve Bin 07A Chardonnay was naturally fermented in barrel and aged on its lees with full malolactic fermentation. Medium straw-colored, it displays aromas of white peach, toasted almonds, and mineral. Vibrant on the palate and reminiscent of a high-level Puligny-Montrachet, it is intense, complex, impeccably balanced, and lengthy. It will continue to blossom for 2-3 years and drink well through 2017. – by Robert Parker

Bin 07A. Shows the continuing evolution of the Penfolds white wines as they become steadily finer and more elegant; fruit to the fore, with seamless oak behind. This is a great example of that evolution, marrying intensity with delicacy. – by James Halliday
