Grape
Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes
Good, strong red-purple colour; cassis berry fruit and French oak are perfectly balanced and integrated on both bouquet and palate, with hints of sweet, earthy secondary Cabernet aromas adding interest. The palate has the hallmark elegance of the Coldstream Bordeaux-based reds, with fine, silky tannins woven through the length of the palate. A particular feature of the wine is the absence of any stalky, minty or herbaceous characters, being very much a reflection of a low-yielding, warm (for the Yarra Valley) vintage. Undoubtedly, the best Reserve Cabernet since 1992.
