Tasting Notes

Colour : Dark garnet with a deep core.

Nose : Floral, perfumed, fresh. Boiled-fruitcake mix –
nutmeg / cinnamon and mixed spices are laced
with glaceed (Cointreau-like) citrus fruits. Subtle
praline & liquorice trail on the finish.

Palate : Medium to full-bodied with an acid/tannin conveyance propelling flavour to the back-palate. Balanced yet taut, with a continuum of flavours –
sarsaparilla, beetroot, lemon, blackcurrant. Nutmeg, red liquorice & pomegranate jump to the fore while juniper, bay leaf & menthol linger on
the finish. Lot’s happening! The finish? Lacy tannins. No oak.

The 2005 St. Henri Shiraz is matured for 16 months in large, seasoned
oak vats and includes 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It exhibits a
floral-accented perfume along with nutmeg, cinnamon, licorice, and
blueberry. Medium-bodied and impeccably balanced, it displays a complex
array of fruit and spice flavors leading to a lengthy, pure finish.
Drink this stylish effort over the next 10-12 years.

A full deep red, this firm and drying shiraz has a sweet, chocolatey and
leathery bouquet of red berry and dark plum confiture, with hint of
raisin. It?ˉs sumptuous and sweet-fruited, dark and brambly, finishing
with excellent length and a
lingering firm, but tightly integrated
undercarriage. Drink 2013-2017.

A substantial wine in all respects, with more richness and mouthfeel
than many of the 1980s and ?ˉ90s; the array of black fruits with a twist
of cassis is perfectly balanced, as is the oak and tannin support.

Aromatic, complex and silky, slipping in its gorgeous blackberry,
currant and plum fruit against a seething background of toast, spice,
mineral and loamy earth. The texture is seamless, and the flavors just
take off, sailing through the long, expressive finish. Best from 2011
through 2020. 1,000 cases imported.
