Region
Heathcote

Grape
Shiraz Cabernet Franc

Tasting Notes
Less dense colour than Georgia’s Paddock; overall, far more savoury and less luscious; bitter chocolate, spice and blackberry power the long finish to redeem the wine.

This wine needs plenty of time for its reserved expression of spicy, currant-like flavours of cranberries, blackberries and cassis to emerge. Profoundly smoky and chocolate-like, its aromas are initially oak-dominated, but then reveal pleasing floral and spicy influences. Framed by very firm, drying and astringent tannins, its impressively structured palate slowly unfolds the sweetness to match its dehydrated currant-like notes.

Firm, with a moderate weight to the unusual flavor profile, hinting at cardamom and white pepper floral qualities as the dark berry flavors poke through the tannins on the chewy finish. This one needs cellaring. Best from 2010 through 2016. 15 cases imported.
