Many Vineyards Supplying our winery are in areas that were a focus of the gold ruch of the mid to late 19th century and thus the inspiration for the name Poppet Head.
The Poppet head was a tower-like lifting structure built over the top of a mine shaft, enabling miners to get the quartz and rock out of the mine to the surface.
The grapes for this wine were sourced from the stathbogie ranges and Upper Goulburn region of Victoria. A Cool-Climate, elegant style, it was partically matured in new and one year old French and American oak barriques. The resulting wine is packed with juicy melon flavours and restrained oak character. The structure of the wine-acidity, flavour and oak-all in balance, indicates that this wine will cellar well
